Episode 123: Holding onto Faith While Fighting for Your Baby’s Life—with Mauricio and Christin Rosa
*In this episode, we talk about abortion, pregnancy reduction, potential loss of an unborn baby, and infertility. If these are sensitive topics for you, we recommend skipping this episode.
How do we approach God with this?
Has my view of God changed because of this hardship?
Can I still trust God? Will I trust Him?
If this doesn’t go well, will I resent Him?
These are all questions that Mauricio and Christin Rosa faced when they received the news of a crisis in their pregnancy and learned they were at risk of losing their unborn son. When doctors advised them to consider a “reduction” in their twin pregnancy, their hearts broke for their child. They wondered what hardships he would have to endure if he survived. But they held steadfast to their faith and trusted God with the outcome.

Our Takeaways:
1) Respond with trust and prayer. Life has many ups and downs. When the hardships come our way, it’s important to hold onto hope and belief that the unexpected can happen. While we can’t guarantee how your specific situation will turn out, we do know that you can always trust God with your circumstances. He is in control and will be right there with us through the heartache or the joys. Take the time now to lift whatever is going on in your life to the Father in prayer.
2) The Lord goes before us. We often hear about how God walks with us in our troubles, but did you know He also goes before us as well? That means He already knows what is going to happen. Nothing comes as a surprise to Him, and He is preparing us for whatever our future holds. When you find yourself feeling afraid of the unknown and scared to walk the path ahead, remember that God is already preparing you for what is to come. He is gathering the people to support you through what’s to come.
3) At the end of the day, everything comes back to trust in God. Mauricio shared with us all the questions that he began asking in his heart when he and Christin received their son’s diagnosis. One of the most prominent ones was, “Can I still trust God? And will I?” It’s one thing to profess that you trust God while life is going good. However, when hardships hit us unexpectedly, our faith can falter. It’s during these times that we can immerse ourselves in Scripture and remind ourselves of who He is.
