Growing Through Prayer—Pressure to Perform

Growing Through Prayer: Pressure to Perform

May 21, 2018

Joanna Teigen

Lord,

It’s the season of test scores, trophies, and report cards. My kids feel pressure to perform and measure up. They carry silent fears, wondering Am I going to make it? Am I accepted? Am I enough? My children can believe their value and worth are on the line.

Bring freedom from fear by your mercy and acceptance. Let my loved ones rest in the truth that “the Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7) Ease the burden to live up to others’ expectations by trusting in your perfect love.

Thank you for your unconditional love that receives us as we are. You never demand perfection or hard work to earn your favor. Draw my children close to you. Teach them the true meaning of success—to love, serve, and follow Jesus with their whole hearts. Let them live in your grace every day.

Amen.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
