Lord,
You say every child’s heart is all wrapped up in foolishness. Even when my kids try to do their best, immaturity and inexperience set them up to struggle. Safety takes a backseat to risk. Money is wasted instead of saved for tomorrow. Homework is set aside for hours of movies, video games, and social media. Friends are chosen who fail to show loyalty or character. Goals and personal integrity give way to what’s easy, entertaining, or popular in my child’s world. Without wisdom, my kids can’t fully grow up and experience your blessing.
Move in my children’s hearts by your Spirit. May they “taste and see that you are good” so they want more and more of you. (Psalm 34:8) Let them encounter your power and majesty so godly fear can work wisdom into their lives. (Proverbs 9:10) Give them ears to hear your Word and the courage to apply it to their lives. Save them from their sin, rescue them from temptation, and transform their desires to crave what’s good and right.
Give me grace to show compassion for my children. Teach me patience, trusting you’re growing them up a little more each day. Let me have the kind of love that “hopes all things” and “trusts all things” without ever giving up. (1 Corinthians 13:7-8) Help me to persevere when I’m tired—setting firm boundaries, rewarding good choices, and teaching your truth all the time. Give me wisdom by your Spirit to equip me as an example to follow.
Draw my kids close to you. Help them. Grow them. Teach them. Let them love you with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. Complete the work you’ve started to make them like Jesus. Thank you for your love that never lets them go.
Amen.
