Growing Through Prayer—For the Wife Who Suffers

Growing in Prayer--For the Wife Who Suffers

May 28, 2018

Joanna Teigen

Lord,

You created marriage as a blessing. A husband’s tenderness, strength, and sacrificial love can be the greatest gift his wife knows in this life. Yet for some of your precious daughters, marriage brings pain. Harsh words. Disrespect. Isolation. Rage and abuse. They feel trapped in their fear with no voice to cry for help.

Loving Father, care for the women in my life who need rescue. Give each one the courage to share her hurts and needs. Enable her to claim her right to dignity. Provide wise, experienced counsel to guide her steps. Above all, let her know you as their Healer, Deliverer, and Friend.

Show me how to bring support and offer safe space to talk and breathe in peace. Use me as your hands of kindness to women who need you. Teach me how to encourage—to build up the resolve and bravery that’s needed for change. Fill my mouth with truth that declares your power and unfailing love. Display your goodness as you shelter your beloved ones under your wing.

Amen.

But let all who take refuge in you be glad;
let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name
may rejoice in you.
(Psalm 5:11)
