Dear Teacher,
Our paths have woven together as we start this new school year. Even though I don’t know you very well yet, we have plenty in common. We both want what’s good for my child. We care deeply about helping kids learn, grow, and thrive. You and I want a chance to feel respected and heard—we’re doing the best we can.
I see you and I care. You carry a heavy load of responsibility. Test scores and standards hang over your head. Each child brings unique gifts, challenges, and learning styles to your classroom. You recognize pain and struggles in your students’ lives but feel powerless to help. You’re making do with limited resources. No matter the stress and strain, you’re compelled to stay steady. Cheerful. Brave.
Please know I pray for you all the time. I pray for your health when my kiddo carries colds and germs to school. When conferences, programs, and special events stretch your day even longer, I pray for an extra measure of energy. I lift up your burdens, not knowing the struggles or broken relationships wounding your heart. When others criticize or make you feel small, I ask for God’s grace to flow in. I plead for help and wisdom from heaven to meet each boy and girl where they are. I pray for reward for your work—respect from your boss, abundant provision, and successful learning by every kid in your class. God is listening to every prayer and loves you without limit.
Thank you for trying. For pushing yourself toward excellence as a teacher. For seeking to understand my child’s unique mind and emotions. You show up day after day with creativity, skill, and drive to keep going. You’ve counted the cost and decided your class is worth it. You matter.
God bless you as we tackle this school year, together.
Sincerely,
A Parent
Beautiful post. I love that you pray for your kids’ teachers. Teachers have a special place in my heart…my husband and I have both been teachers, our oldest son is in the midst of his first teaching job, and his wife is also a teacher. Teachers love to know there are parents that are in this together with them!
